Turkey will held a constitutional referendum this week-end. The outcome could change the regime into a Presidential regime with stronger power for the current President, Recep Erdogan.
Turkey is a strategic US ally in the fight against ISIS and a win for Erdogan would trigger some fear into NATO.
The Turkish authorities have already worked hard to influence the vote. Last March, Twitter accounts belonging to high-profile news outlets, international brands and politicians were hacked and showed posts in support of Erdogan.
As it turns out, Turkish authorities are using a powerful spyware made by the Italian company hacking team. A recent Al Jazeera documentary "Spy Merchant" revealed it and confirmed how the regime is using internet to trace opponents : not only their laptop but also their phone and GPS. It seems that, even before the referendum, the new Erdogan era has already started, a very powerful cyber Erdogan with superpowers !
